The Tasmanian Schools Challenge is an excellent initiative by
Triathlon Tasmania & T3 Events that allows for school aged children to participate in a fun, active and safe environment. Triathlon Australia fully supports this exciting program as it fits nicely into our state and national junior development pathway and most importantly the event meets all the rigorous safety and quality assurance standards set by Triathlon Australia under its sanctioning process.”

What is Triathlon you may ask, Triathlon is made up of three different activities, swim, bike and run. Each of these legs is completed without any stopping in between. If you’ve never done one before we have a comprehensive list of questions and answers on the website to help you find out what will happen on the day along with other relevant information.
A Triathlon begins with the swim. You will be swimming with lots of other students in wave starts, keep an eye out for the marker buoys and remember you can walk/wade at anytime during the swim so don’t worry about anyone else or not being able to swim well…that’s no problem in this event. There will be life guards in the water and if you need a hand many other officials and volunteers to help ensure it’s a fun and safe experience.
Now, out of the water and on to your bike. You will need to put on your shoes, t-shirt and helmet as quickly as possible. Get onto your bike and follow the bike course – helpers will guide you round the course. Once back into the transition area, hop off your bike and rack it, then remove your helmet. Now the last bit of the challenge, the run leg, if you are feeling a bit tired, take your time. Remember, this is not a race, it is about doing your best and finishing the challenge. Look where you are going and focus on getting to the finish line.
Best of luck in taking on the Schools Triathlon Challenge
